Flea Market Finds

Playing along this week with Sophie and crew.

First up, some lovely teacup and saucer sets I picked up at a local second hand furniture store.
I fell in love with the colours. They are made in Japan, Kokura Ware iron stone 1970's, no chips, a bit of crazing on a couple of saucers but otherwise great condition. I paid $40 for the 6 sets. A bit more than I usually spend but some searching around online confirms they were a fair price.

Next, this gorgeous pyrex bowl. Very excited to pick this up at the Swap Meet for $5.00
It is in great condition and I have used it a number of times already. It's the perfect size.

And my favourite find..this little dish. It just called out to me. It really is the prettiest green, my photo does not do it justice. I don't usually pick up this kind of stuff but I just had to have it. I'm not sure hubs would agree but there you go...$5.00

Last but not least, I have decided to show and tell some of Belle's Buttons. While not technically a flea market find, I feel they are definately worthy of a mention. I am having so much fun digging into this huge tin of buttons. Each little button is so lovely, each with it's own story no doubt. I can't help but wonder what each one was attached to and who might have worn it.
Belle's Buttons..Christmas in July!Yes?

Be sure to visit Sophie too. She has the cutest little tea cosy. A must see if you are an owl lover..(thinking Miss Mardi).

Belle's Buttons

My father-in-law discovered this treasure trove of buttons recently while cleaning out the shed at his mother's place. Our Nanna Belle recently turned 98! Amazing!!! She is fighting fit but resides in elderly care now so her home is being sold. During the tidy up, this precious tin of buttons was gifted to me.

The tin is an old film case and it is chocablock full of interesting and beautiful buttons. It really is a treasure. There is SO much to see.
Here's a little sampling of what's inside...

My Creative Space

Hello! We are all over our horrible lurgy. As I click through blogland, I am reading that many others have had it too. Come on Spring!
The children are back at school. We had a quiet school holidays this time round. I am trying to find the motivation to clean, clean , clean..but fun stuff has been calling me instead.

Some new cushions.

Special thanks to my bff for lesson on how to insert a zip!

New jami pants for Lulu. Purple isn't usually my thing but I picked up this flannelette at the Salvos for $1, I think! It's lovely and thick and I added a purple top from Kmart for $3 so a pretty cheap pair of jami's really.

A little drawstring hobby bag made from some thrifted sheeting. Perfect for anything!

Today I am going to have another go at cleaning. I have some very special friends coming for a visit this weekend and I CAN'T WAIT!!!

I hope you have a lovely weekend too!

Making

If I'm honest, I'd really like to whinge about how tired and crappy I feel at the moment. But this is a crafty blog...isn't it? so I won't. We've all been sick the past couple of weeks. It feels longer!

Not much happening in the way of craftyness around here but there has been making of sorts.

The Mister making a garden...yayyyyyyyy!

Making choc chip bickies, a staple at our place. Handrolled by Ollie boy!

Chicken Soup made by my Mama. JUST what I needed, thanks Mum!

Not much of a foodie really. The best I could come up with was photographing it on a thrifted patchy placemat. Big chunks of chicken, loads of lentils. Yum! I promise it tastes better than it looks:)

And I want to share some making by others that is inspiring me ENORMOUSLY!

The sweetest Winter trousers.

Check out this clever little hottie!

An amazing trash to treasure upcycle!!! GORGEOUS!

I'm taking a little bloggy break now to enjoy the school holidays and nurture us all back to good health.
Hope your week is a happy one:)

Flea Market Finds

No thrifting for this girl lately but recently, my BF gifted me my first ever piece of Pyrex. I've been desperate to find some with no such luck! She found this one lid and all.

She LOVES the colour. And it would match in perfectly with her pyrex collection. She told me so! How lucky am I? I think my gasp when she gave it to me was almost reward enough for her giving it up. Almost. Thank you bestie! You know I love it and will be forever grateful.

My first ever piece of pyrex! All the more special because of you!
