Scrap Jacked

Yesterday I found a little space in my craft room and began my layout for this months Scrap Jacked.

I chose to scraplift Julie's lovely layout. You can see it here on the blog. I love Julie's style and her use of white space. I really tried hard to stick to Julie's design because I think it works beautifully. I'll be using this again and again.

Journaling: I took this picture of you as you opened your eyes to see your new mountain bike. You had not asked for anything at all, there were no special requests this year and you were certainly not expecting a new bike. It was a WONDERFUL surprise!

And finally, I want to tell you about the pretty aqua ribbon. Well.. I ironed it(I know, I know) and with an iron that was too hot. It instantly shrivelled up and you know what..I love it! Some things are just meant to be I think!

A Little Bit of Pretty

When I started this little fundraiser I didn't really know what to expect. I secretly had a goal of raising $500.
I thought that might be achievable but really..  I didn't know.

I am SO THRILLED with the support I have received. I have had so many lovely emails in regards to the fundraiser, cf, the products.  I have LOVED seeing your creations using some your 'pretties'. I have even had some beautiful, generous friends and new friends send me some gorgeous things to include my packs.

From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU for helping me to meet my goal of $500.
I KNOW this money will help The Childrens Hospital at Westmead enormously. They care for SO many sick kids and their families.

I have since exceeded this goal of $500 and I thought I'd flick through my little docket book to see which sale bumped it over the $500 mark.

To celebrate, I have this pretty package of goodies packaged up and ready to send to someone.

I wonder if it might be YOU!
Was it your purchase that met my goal of $500?? Was it??
It could be you.
Be sure to check your mailbox this week.
Just.in.case.

PS My new goal is of course $1000. I won't tell you yet how close we are:)

My Creative Space

The other day..I started these little cords.

The green corduroy and the doily pocket were picked up at the op shop. I used the 'Cute Kids Pants' pattern from Sew La Tea Do by Pip Lincolne. I made a lightweight cotton version here and thought the green cord would make a snuggly pair for Winter. It's very thick cord so I handstitched the hem using a slip stitch. They are great little pants and cost no more than $2.00!

Lulu loving her pockets and her new 'barpoo shooz'(purple shoes).

I stitched the pocket on first but when I assembled the pants, I decided to move the pocket down a bit but now I am thinking it might be a bit too low. That's okay tho'..I'll sort it out next time. I'll be using this pattern for some jammi pants. Because I am a beginner sewer, I really like to make something a few times. All part of the learning process for me.

Thanks for stopping by and happy, happy weekend! Yippee I LOVE weekends!

123 challenge

I thought I'd have a go at the 123 challenge this month. It's been ages since I have played along but I've always loved this challenge blog. The March criteria- the word to/too/two, light to medium blue and doilies.

When we were at Bunnings on the weekend, Boo collected a bunch of paint swatches as she does... she teamed a few together and announced they were her favourites. Seeing the medium blue colour, I decided to use her little swatches as further inspiration for my layout.

I used some thrifted sheeting to make the pink floral fabric tape-super easy, just ran it through the xyron as well as using a little clothing tag. I'm a hoarder and I keep a lot of bits and pieces so I am really trying to use them or toss them.

I created the layout and had to add an envelope for my journaling. I took the journaling from Lulu's birthday post and I couldn't fit it on my page so an envelope it was.

Journaling reads:

Oh baby girl you are TWO!

In the last few weeks you have been saying SO many new words. You are repeating things you hear and can put two words together.
'
Pretty' is your new favourite word.

You run so fast now Lulu. You run up and down the stairs without holding the wall.

You love swimming and when the big kids are getting ready for a swim, you run to find your togs and say 'Lulu pool' over and over until we say yes. You say 'yayyyyyyyyyyyy' a lot!

We say hip hip and you say 'HOORAYYYYY'. You love books and say 'book book wead'. You had a little taste of some milo and now whenever I pour a cup of milo you run to the pantry and put at the tin saying 'miloo' over and over until I sprinkle a teeny, tiny bit in your milk.

You are having some success on the potty and like wearing your 'uddies uddies'.

You have had a couple of tantrums, a bit of pinching, hitting and throwing of toys. Just testing and learning.

You're happy and smiling nearly always.

You love to snuggle down to sleep-you have to have all the bubbas-Lala, Ellie, DehDeh, twinky bear, Sarah Lynne as well as two blankies. You still suck your two fingers. You LOVE skin to skin snuggles.

You are always drawing and love to paint, play boo, chase the big kids and ride your bike.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY littlest love!

Op shopping

This week I visited three oppys and found some lovely things.
First up some fabric, too cheap to pass up. $2.50 for all three bundles.

Some lovely books, some for reading, some for upcycling into stationary, garlands and other papercratf. All .50c each.

A pretty floral sheet-currently on Lulu's cot, $1.00.

Another chenille bedspread. I know!!! But it is in such GREAT condition and a lovely design, $5.00.

Last but not least...this cute crocheted blankie.

Only little, maybe 1m x 1m but at $1.50 how could I refuse. This blanket looks like it is brand new. When I washed it, the water stayed clean. Seriously.. I think someone has just whipped this up with their scraps and donated it to the Salvos. I love it!
Anyway, I think it will add a splash of colour to the couch while the very clever Nicole is crocheting my custom blankie.

My Creative space

My creative space is a shambles. I like to dabble in all kinds of things which makes me a jack of all trades, master of none. This is what I've been dabbling in this week.

No wonder my head is in a spin.
I had plans to paint the wooden box.
White? Turquoise?
Now that I've sanded it, I'm quite fond of the wood. Maybe I'll leave it a la naturale'.

And this little boy came home from school today with a tummy ache.

Just between us...I think he just wanted to come home and play lego.

Op shopping

A busy week with family, left little time for op shopping this week. Of course I managed a quick visit and found a tablecloth-yes another one!
We had a birthday at our house this week so it was all about baking. Over the past couple of months I have picked up some cute aprons so now I seemed to have a little collection going on.
They are all handmade and cost $1.00 each.
Which one's your favourite?? I like the orange one!

Bigger and better

Okay so after I had a play with the adhesive spray on the little cylinder(in the post below) it was onto bigger and better things. I picked up this lampshade on clearance at KMart for $2 and have used the adhesive spray to fancy it up with some favourite fabric and pretty trim.

It has a home in my big girls room and after FINALLY completing her quilt last week, I have to say I enjoyed making this little lampshade. A quick project is a good project!

Making something out of nothing

Today I covered this little container with some lovely orange floral from one of my thrifted pillowcases. I have plans for something bigger and better but I wanted to test out the adhesive spray on a little something first. I love a quick, fun project!  I'll start hoarding these containers. They'll make an easy school holiday craft, I think.

And a few days later at Vinnies..a bunch of new-well new to me:) sheeting.  They are in lovely condition and I can't wait to snip into some.

Happy Mail

This week I treated myself to some cute fabrics that have been on my wish list for a while.
I came across this fabric store at some markets recently and grabbed Bec's card. The service was FANTASTIC and VERY SPEEDY!

First up, Blue Pennants and Orange Awnings from the Castle Peeps collection. These might just the beginnings of a quilt for Ollie.

I also purchased some Dream On charm packs. LOVE!

And the icing on the cake... FREE POSTAGE within Australia.
Free Postage means more money for fabric don't you think??
