Thrifted

Ages ago I painted this little thifted table for Lulu's room. While I loved it's pink neon legs, I recently came across a second table and thought they'd make a pigeon pair for our space.

So a new paint job it was! I used half strength 'toasted almond' which I LOVE. I followed this easy peasy recipe for chalkboard paint. After a couple of coats of paint and a light sand in between with the mouse sander, I rubbed some beeswax into which gave it a lovely sealed finish. Regular old chalkboard paint was slappped on top and ta daaahh...new bedside tables. Total cost around $90 with plenty of black chalkboard paint left. I think I need different lamps now which will no doubt cost me a heap more than the bedside tables.

I dunno Lea, I'm kinda liking the yellow lamps with the blackboard paint. It seems to work well (at least in the photos) :)

what a gorgeous space, there is not a thing in there i don't love, you have such great taste.
even if you don't chalk on it, the black tops look great don't they! i'd chalk "shush" or "tea, blonde" onto mine!
and the lamps are great, i have an urge to paint the bases of them white, dont know why, but that yellow is soooo cheerful!
happy weekend x

Hi Lea, you did a great job on the little bed sides, how lucky were you finding another to make a pair?! (that Courtney is a good teacher!)I think the yellow lamps look great, and that old ironing board at the end of your bed is gorgeous. You know I really, really love it, don't you?! x

I want to come and read a book on your bed! Such a beautiful space. Love the mix of yellow, greys and the blue cushion with the yellow flowers is my fave :)

I agree with the others - keep the lamps!
