TGIF

It is well and truly Winter here and we have begun our school holidays a week early as my crew have horrible snotty noses and hackling coughs. Throw a lung infection into the mix for our big girl and you get one tired, stressed out mama. At 3pm today I starting counting down the hours until bedtime. Not long now...it's leftovers for dinner and the days dishes will wait until the morning I think.

On a brighter note though, it has been nice to have some jammi days. There has been a lot of snuggling on the couch and movie watching.

What do you have planned for the weekend? Something fun?

PS Big thanks to my ma who sent me home with a couple of slices of fruitcake for my afternoon tea.
I am certain my afternoon was better because of it. Thanks Mum x

Vintage floral pillowcase to throw in the mix. 50c
Checked shirt-perfect cushion back. $1.50
Floral sheet $1.00

Cute little embroidery chosen by Lulu.  Lulu asked so beautifully 'please may we buy these bunnies mummy?' What's a girl to do! $3.00 well spent, I think.

Pattern $1.00...wish me luck. I am terrible at reading patterns.

And something I've been searching for...a little glass vase, just the perfect size for watching a hyacinth bulb grow. And a steal at $2.00

Have you been op shopping lately?
Have you picked up anything fun?
Gosh when I looked over my finds here, I can see a bit of my Nonna.

How I love Sunday evenings!!!
I am off to make a cup of tea in a favourite cup and check out what everyone else has been thrifting.
Linking in with Sophie and gang over here.

Today

The boy played his best game of soccer yet! Where is the little boy who would not go on the field last season, who cried, who hid behind his mamas legs. His coach said he played so well today, his best ever! I am so proud! The other team were a couple of players short and he was happy to turn his shirt inside out and play for their team for half the game, when some of other kids wouldn't. That made me even prouder.

The children are off for the day with their daddy and grandy in the vintage car rally. It's Lulu's first time. They have been so excited all week! I have been so excited all week!

I went to the farmers market and bought some beautiful eggs.  The ones laid by free roaming grass fed hens.
I also happen to treat myself to some delicious dutch pancakes for brunch.

I went to the library and read a few magazines by a sunny window.

A friend called and invited us over for a roast dinner tonight.

My bestie text me from the oppy. She wanted to know if I needed any Johnson saucers or sideplates with yellow roses!!! UmmmmYES to both!

My sink is piled high with the breakie dishes and even some things left over from last night!

I had a nap in Boo's bed. She has the cosiest bed and the sunniest room in the whole house.

Seriously could today have been any more perfect?!

My Creative Space

As well as basting my vintage boys quilt, I have been sewing an easy upcycled cushion cover for a dear friend's birthday. Inspired by this lovely lady, I used some linen from a thrifted tablecloth.
I have also added some vintage floral and a thrifted shirt for the backing. I do love easy.

I stitched a little motif onto the tag from the same tablecloth used in the cushion and some pretty wrapping completes the job, I think! Wrapping the present is one of my favourite parts!

I'm linking in with 'My Creative Space'.

One for the boy

We bought our boy a new bed last week. A new bed needs a new quilt, I think so I cut into the vintage boys sheeting that I've been collecting for a lonnnng while. I cut the patches Friday night, sewing them into strips the next night and by late Sunday morning I had a quilt top. Hopefully by the weekend I just might be up to binding-my least favourite part of making a quilt. Fingers crossed.

Jubilee Celebrations

With the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in full swing, I remembered I had a panel tucked away to make a union jack cushion for my boy's bed. I bought this panel at Spotlight and used some op shopped denim for the back, making a simple envelope closing.

I cut the panel down a little to make it an oblong shape so I had to make an insert to fit. The insert was made using some calico and a bag of filling. I probably need to make a slightly bigger insert as I like my cushions plump. For now, it will suffice.

Have you been watching the Jubilee celebrations?
Did you love Kate Middleton's STUNNING outfit as much as I did?
Did you know that you can send a message to The Queen?
Do you think she reads them?

Would you like to make your own union jack cushion?
Yes? You would?
Great! I have a panel to give away.
Just leave me a comment below.  Just say hello if you like. Open to EVERYONE!
Will draw a winner at the end of the week okay?
Giveaway closed Sunday night 10/6
