13/52

The boy yanked out his top tooth. It's been wobbly for months. 2 bux was the going rate.
I cannot even imagine how he will look with big boy teeth.

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.

Fooling around with his daddy. They came from the same mold.

Classic 'hurry up and take my picture mum, the world is waiting for me'.

Catching up

Now that school is well and truly back, things have been busy around here. Our litlest love has started preschool and the bigs have been full on with school, activities, sport and friends. As they are growing, I am finding they want (and probably need) to experience more of life outside the family. I am not a fan of cramming kids lives with activities but I guess the wanting to socialise, to be a bit more independent, to experience new things is all part of growing up. Throw a couple of birthdays into the mix and our days have been full. Oh holidays I miss you already.

So I'm playing catch up today and am posting my photographs for The 52 Project.

The big girl at her swimming carnival. This kid is awesome. She will have a go at anything.
She swam all her races, made it into the relay team and had a go at the medley-she didn't last the distance but she is such a tryer. She did however, pick up a third place in her 50m backstroke.

First day at preschool. Happily waved me goodbye.
A few tired tears later in the day but had a great day overall and keeps asking to go back.

The boy and his birdnest.

This is what 4 looks like. Happy birthday cheeky girl!

Painted Princess

Twisting the swing so it unwinds for a crazy spin. I loved doing that as a kid.

5/52

I have a huge chocolate headache tonight so bed is calling..Just popping my portraits on the blog though, before it's time for 6/52. I know the exposure is all wrong in the last two shots but I really love the expressions and the moments that went along with them so they are in.

You are all about the ipad at the moment.
You love watching HR Puff n Stuff as well as playing the various numeracy apps.
The tattoos are also very right now and your blankie right by your side as well.

Gorgeous girl.
I took this picture at the pool today. You like to have a little practise before your swimming carnival.

You told me all kinds of stories this afternoon.
You are thinking about the next story in this shot.

Penny for your thoughts Ollie boy!

 Such a sunny girl.
We all had a happy night playing and swimming and having pizza for dinner with favourite friends.

Busy stitching a felt cupcake; a birthday gift for her little sister.
She's a kind, thoughtful soul this one. She challenges me daily yet fills my heart with love and pride.

I could have chosen 1001 photos of my littlest love this week.
She is darling at the moment and loves the camera too.

My boy playing on the ipad. There was time to look up and smile though.

I am particularly happy with this shot because my inside, low light shots are usually awful.
This might be my best one yet.

My big girl not sparkling at the moment. A sure sign she is getting sick.

An unusually serious face for the boy as he waits for his turn on the flying fox.

Fun in the pool = big smiles.

Rolling playdough, wearing ladybug nighty and week old braids.

Untitled

Lots of good stuff happening right now...it's hard to know where to start so I just will.

Last week, I attended The Nursery workshop, taught by the talented Tim Coulson. Despite reading my manual over and over, my dslr and I have never been good friends. My photography has always been a bit hit and miss. I have dabbled here and there but my disappointment and frustration usually lead me to turning the dial back to auto.

After a wonderful day soaking in as much of Tim's knowledge and enthusiam for photography as I could, I am finally feeling like the pieces of the puzzle are fitting together.

Tim is not only a talented photographer but he has a real gift for teaching and connecting with others. Listening to Tim speak so passionately about people and life and capturing the everyday joy was truly inspiring. The idea of spending my time taking better photographs instead of editing them is spot on, I think!

If you ever have the opportunity to attend The Nursery, I promise you'll be glad you did!

So then...a few snaps from the day, the beginning of my photographic journey if you like.
Still a bit hit and miss but no sign of auto ;)

Thank you so much Tim for sharing your passion.
Special thanks to our models, the beautiful and patient Kesh and little Roo.

It was also lovely to meet the other workshop participants.
What a lovely bunch of people to learn with!

After a bit of thought I have decided to have a go at The 52 Project, hosted by the lovely Che and Fidel blog. The perfect opportunity to hone my photography skills and capture my little loves as they grow and change this year.
